What is this rubber bird thing for? Pic included

I found this rubber bird when unpacking one of the last boxes from moving house --in December— I swear I’ve never even seen it before, but it’s the sort of thing MIL might’ve put in a Christmas stocking. What is it meant to be used for?! Looks like it clips onto something then holds something else? I’m putting my faith in Mumsnet that someone will know the answer in the first page

I had considered that but can’t work out what you’d fit it onto. Another pic attached, profile view of birdy - it’s got a slot lengthways too

Is it a handbag hook? The sort you slot into a table and then hang your bag off the hook? In a cafe or restaurant (ha!) To keep your bag safe and off the floor.

I think you clip it onto a table and then you hang your bag on it! I've no idea where but I feel I've seen something similar before! Probably in one of those leaflets, full of gadgety things you don't need, that comes with the Sunday papers!
