Colours/ decor to go with nearly navy curtains?

I say nearly nearly navy, because they look lighter in the light - like royal blue highlights.

I really love them and they feel luxurious, but now I’m due to hang them, I’m not sure what colours to put with them. I’m not a fan of white or grey and don’t like yellow accents... although I want warm, rather than cool colours I think!!). The main window is north east facing.

I’ve probably started the wrong way round! Pictures to show what you mean with ideas would be great

Colours for the walls or for cushions ? Blue and brown goes well , so dark wood could be nice but you will need to lighten with something. What about cream if you are against white or yellow. Is mustard yellow still a no ?

Copper is quite fashionable too.

Are the curtains plain?

Two screenshots attached ..

Thank you!

I’m not sure, really! I found some curtains I fell in love with them, bought them and lock down happened. I don’t know where to start!

There’s lots of wood in the house (doors/ wood skirting etc). I can’t get up to date photos because we’re moving and the situation is making life travelling back and forwards difficult.

I’ve been looking at turquoise and navy, which I really like but I’m not sure whether it looks elegant enough!!

I was going to say tan.
Dark brown looks smart too, as does black.
Silver.
Putty or stone.

Look at a colour chart

How about navy and teal?

ItsSummer · 01/07/2020 18:34

Thank you. I’ve been looking at colour schemes, but they all look so dark (I’m not a fan of navy walls etc unless you get plenty of light). Conversely, I don’t like the white walls with the navy curtains...

Maybe I should have thought it through more!!

Love these colours, but think they’d get 'old' quickly!

Yes the colour scheme from that photo at 18.36 will date before the paint’s dry but the one from 18.34 is much more durable. Could you go with pale sanded floors like that?

I've just bought a new navy sofa and I'm going to paint my walls pale green. I want a bit of colour but not too bright and fairly neutral. I'm considering Farrow & Ball Teresa's Green or maybe Vert de Terre...

BlueChampagne · 01/07/2020 18:47

I like lavender and navy.

ItsSummer · 01/07/2020 18:48

Off to look at colours!

I never thought navy would be so difficult (but they’re such lovely curtains!)

Love those colours! Especially the Teresa's Green!

@ItsSummer me too. Gorgeous isn't it. I'm so fed up with my current grey and cream colour scheme.

Blush pink or a soft coral pink...thinking www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/fullscreen/image-gallery.html?propertyId=91741928&photoIndex=0#

Would you mind saying where you got your curtains? I'm looking for a pair. I want to do our bedroom with a dark blue wall and the rest a pale. Lush pink. We have dark wood furniture with silver handles, silver lamps, light fitting, curtain pole. In my head it looks good, want curtains before making final decision on pain and bedding

kingdomcapers · 01/07/2020 19:00

Paint even, not pain

@kingdomcapers
Dunelm, have some surprisingly decent quality, reasonably priced blackout curtains in nice shades of navy blue. I purchased the 'solar' range

ItsSummer · 01/07/2020 19:11

Thank you!

I’ve been googling loads, but I love getting real people's opinions.

Blush pink is a good call or a very pale yellow towards cream.

Orange is blues complimentary colour. Worth considering ?!

My daughter has decorated her room blush pink and navy. It's north facing and really does look cosy (especially now we've got her curtains as she just had blackout blinds for weeks!)
