Does anybody else dislike their OHs car?

He loves cars so I’d never say anything but u hate it. It’s really low to the ground so every pothole feels like a massive jolt and it feels really squashed. It’s also a two seater so not remotely practical (have a baby on the way.)

Does anyone else feel like this?!

I’m not keen on DH’s car. My back is tricky, so I like a car that’s higher. I know that SUVs are very much frowned on here, but I need to have a car that suits my back.

DH’s is a saloon, but lower and I find it hard to get out of and much less comfortable.

When I was younger, I had two seater sports cars. Not any more.

Yes this one is so difficult to climb in and out of!

I had a friend who is almost 6 foot. Her substantially shorter BF Drove one of those tiny Vauxhall's Vx220. Watching her get in and out of it was ridiculously funny. And they could barely fit in her handbag. He always made bad decisions. This was just one in a long old list.

DH used to have a two-seater convertible while I had the 'family' car. He now drives an Astra, which is a bit more boring (even though it's an SRI Turbo), but as it has more than enough room for family holidays I'm not complaining.

It also meant I could buy myself a new car, one that I chose for fun rather than practicality.

Elphame · 30/06/2020 13:53

Yes - but I'm the one with the lowered 2 seater convertible.

Driving his is like driving a sofa - so boring!

DP has a souped up boy racer thing.

But I can't drive and he's very generous with lifts so I'm grateful (yet going a bit deaf)

I feel you. Husband has a teeny tiny sports car with room for me and a handbag only. I feel every bump, it's very low to the ground and I feel quite vulnerable when jammed in between 'normal' sized cars. My car is therefore the workhorse for the family, and looks like it! It was a bit of a mid life crisis choice and he loves it, but I do feel it was a rather selfish choice.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 30/06/2020 14:02

Yes. My 6ft4" dh drives a Toyota Avensis estate and I drive a Hyndai Matrix.

I can't stand driving his car. I feel I'm almost sitting on the ground, I can't see round corners (I have to edge out gingerly into the road) I can't parallel park it and I can't fit it into a small space.

Love my little Matrix!

Branleuse · 30/06/2020 14:04

yeah my dp has his dream car but I hate how low it is and also how he drives it.

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/06/2020 14:09

DH drives a 15 year old Polo which always ends up covered in bird crap from where he parks it at work (I think there's an albatross nest in his works carpark); it also has trailing cables in the front passenger footwell from the stereo, the dashcam, the phone; it's only a 1.2 litre engine.
I drive a zafira (we needed a big car to tow a caravan and my previous car was older than his Polo and far too small). The best thing....air conditioning!

Funtcase95 · 30/06/2020 14:10

I sound like your DH. My car is ridiculously low, I can't get it on our driveway. We're both mad into cars, he prefers speed and I prefer stance. I usually like just cars but I absolutely loathe his newest!

ottermum3 · 30/06/2020 14:13

I hate DH's car. He bought it for himself as a treat for a big birthday. We agreed on it in principle but then he went ahead and ordered it with white seats!! So impractical with children.

Rumtopf · 30/06/2020 14:17

Nope I love dh's car. He's got a Range Rover sport (last boxier shape) and I'll drive it at every opportunity.

NaughtyLittleElf · 30/06/2020 14:24

DP has a very impractical car, two doors, low to the ground and hard suspension, I usually drive when we go out so thankfully don't have to go in it very often. I'm hoping he'll change it for something more comfortable at some point.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/06/2020 14:41

I love DH's car, a Ford Mustang. I don't like my boring Hyundai though and can't wait to change for something more exciting!
