Hello! Can anyone help me to find a laptop that is suitable please? I don’t understand all the jargon and I’m being talked at (at speed!) on the online Curry’s help. I need a new laptop for work and I’m really struggling to understand which one I should be buying. I need:

  • a webcam
  • Microsoft Office
  • Google Chrome / Google docs
  • to move around 1000 word/ PowerPoint/ excel documents across from my current laptop (do I need a separate storage unit to do this?)
-the smallest, lightest laptop I can possibly get away with
  • as cheap as possible with all of those features ^
Everything else is unimportant really! I keep seeing Chromebooks that are good for Google but can’t use Office?! Cloudbooks that do the reverse. Some say windows 10 or S and I don’t know if that means office or not. Apologies for the stupidity over here, I’m trying. Thank you!

You just need a refurbished proper business machine, a dell or thinkpad or something, something like

www.tier1online.com/728-20a8-s00c00-screen/lenovo-thinkpad-x1-carbon-2nd-gen-i7-4600u-8gb-240gb-ssd-grade-b-screen-1600x900

Perhaps, capability wise it's more than you need, and should be rugged enough for anything you want, the X240 or Dell they have in their 11-13" size would be even better value like - you'd then need to add Office possibly.

Other refurbishers are available, and might have good options too, may well bundle up office. I wouldn't buy a modern machine, the refurbished are more than capable for what you want (make sure you get an SSD not an HDD is the only thing) and will be significantly more robust and reliable than a similar priced modern one.
