Has anyone bought a mattress online and tried it before removing the packaging so it could be returned if not comfy?

ie sleep on it with the plastic packaging still in place. We want to buy a mattress for our son (14) from Argos but if you remove the packaging you can only exchange it rather than return it. Hence the idea of trying it first.

No but I recently bought a mattress from www.eascamattress.ie. Delivered quickly, so comfortable, 100 day trial. Can highly recommend.

I can’t imagine he would get a good night sleep lying on a noisy plastic wrapping. It would make him sweat too, even with the sheet on top.
It would be better to see if a local bed place has one he could at least lie on and try for half an hour or so.

Several companies do a 100 day trial, but I believe they will just want to work out why it isn't the mattress for you and swap it for a different one rather than your money back. However, it may be more expensive than an Argos one.

Yes, that's the problem, the one we want to try from Argos is under£200.

We’ve bought 3 mattresses during lockdown from mattressnextday and can’t fault them, very comfortable and all under £200 and lots of information about each mattress, we went for the sleep soul ones, one has a memory foam layer and is one of the best mattresses we’ve ever had! Worth a look maybe

If you can get to an open John Lewis or a Dunelm, they should have inexpensive mattresses available to try.

@iluvsummer bizzarely mattressnextday do a small single but not a small double which is what we want.
