Can a coffee table be taller than the sofa seats?

Been looking for a large square rustic coffee table for ages. Finally found one (pre owned) and there's just something not right about it.

I think it's because the top of the coffee table is higher than the seat cushions on our sofa.

Practicality wise it's excellent as we will be eating at it / board games etc so it's kinder on the back.

But I don't know how I feel about the look.

Ours is a couple of inches higher and looks and works fine but our whole house is rustic or eclectic so not all nice and matchy- matchy

I much prefer a high coffee table. I've got my eye on one that has a little shelf that can extend up so that I can be a lazy bitch conscious of my back when trying to get my drinks.
