We've booked our usual self catering holiday apartment that's privately owned.
We found it on www.gocoastal.co.uk

Sykes cottages, hoseasons, Richardsons (for holidays on Norfolk broads boating).

Perch · 25/06/2020 20:47

Stay well away from Sykes cottages! They have been a nightmare to deal with, have quick look at the very upset people on the Sykes unhappy cottages facebook page. I doubt they’ll have a business after this.

Perch · 25/06/2020 20:49

It’s tricky isn’t it? We are looking to book a uk break sometime soon, but just have no idea who to book with as people have been so royally shafted by so many of these companies. What if there is a second wave and another lockdown, or localised versions of lockdown? I can’t go a year without the sea :(

Imadreamer44 · 25/06/2020 20:50

We found our holiday lodge advertised on hoseasons and then contacted the park directly to book. Was actually cheaper doing that!

Air bnb

Lyme Bay Holidays

Another one to say don't book with Sykes! They've been terrible with customers during Covid

Crispsareafoodgroup · 25/06/2020 21:25

Another saying avoid Sykes cottages sadly.

Booking.com
I’d booked a place in Poole, and a place in Barmouth, but just cancelled them to book a different location instead. May cancel again if I decide to go to Spain, as can cancel for free up to 7 days before my stay.

Tuftytail · 25/06/2020 22:01

If you’re booking a self catering property with booking.com do a quick google first. Very often the same property is available through a holiday cottage company and it’s more expensive to book through booking. Com as you’re paying a second lot of commission.
