I'm booked in for this at 18 weeks. I'll definitely be getting the vaccination, as I did in first pregnancy, as I think it's really important to protect the baby
I'm a little curious on the timing though as in US it's offered in third trimester (by 36 weeks) whereas as here it is from 16 weeks. I did see a study showing it might be more effective in second trimester and perhaps that's why (if so great, I'm glad I can access it now)
I did think though that midgestation is thought to be a critical window, with infections at this time linked with a higher risk of neurodevelopmental problems, so wondered if it's an ideal time to cause inflammation via immune response? I'm probably over thinking it!
To be clear I'm definitely having the vaccination, kids are all up to date etc, I'm just wondering why the difference on optimum timing
