All being well, what are your travel plans for next year?

I love abroad, and am so looking forward to going home to Ireland for a long visit next year.

Also in terms of hotels, how far in advance do you think is best for getting a good rate? I’ve never booked so early before, but looking at hotels in Dublin for next summer it seems a lot of places can’t be booked yet as too far away.

I have a holiday booked to New York In January and I’m going to Paris is March. Also planning on a week in August to Spain and hopefully a week away to celebrate finishing my degree in September. I don’t have a lot of money (I’m a student!) but literally every spare penny I have goes on holidays and lock down has made me more determined to go to all the ‘one day I’ll go there’ places as I’ll never know when that opportunity is going to be taken away from me

We have decided for next year to holiday in the UK to try and help boost the UK economy, i seen a lot about it on Facebook and thought it was a good idea. So we will have one holiday in Scotland (where we live) and we are also going to take the kids to a theme park type place in England too.

AbsentmindedWoman · 24/06/2020 21:41

Both your holiday plans sound very nice!

If I can I'd like to get a few days in the UK too when we're near that part of the world, but will have to see.

I'd planned to visit family abroad this July and cannot- here's hoping for next July instead.

CMOTDibbler · 24/06/2020 21:44

We've just booked a sports holiday in Lanzarote for next Easter.

We're sticking to the UK next year - mainly because I can't be arsed with the hassle of cancelling if the virus isn't gone. It'll be Cornwall or Devon. Haven't booked anything yet but I will do soon as I think things will go quickly. There's also a good chance I'll be made redundant by this time next year so don't want to book anything expensive.

If everything is ok next year we might book a last minute thing abroad, but more likely will spend our money seeing friends around the UK instead.

trilbydoll · 24/06/2020 21:45

The cottage in Devon and the campsite in France that we couldn't go to this year.

We were due to go to New York this weekend, however it has been cancelled. We were also planning on booking a week in Spain for the Autumn but hadn't arranged anything. We definitely won't be going away this year given the Covid-19 situation. As much as I would like to go away next year, I am not getting my hopes up. If I were to go on holiday next year I would want to go back to the USA. I am not confident that the Covid-19 situation and all the demonstrations and unrest in the USA will be resolved anytime soon. Will see how the situation progresses, but I think we will potentially end up putting off holidays abroad until 2022. On the plus side we will have lots of extra holiday money saved up by then! :)

SomewhereEast · 24/06/2020 22:04

We've rebooked a planned week near Lisbon for May next year.

MinesaPinot · 24/06/2020 22:10

We were due to cruise in April but have pushed that back to September next year. We are due to go to Greece at the end of August but are just waiting to see what happens. I swing between feeling comfortable about going to being absolutely determined not to go.

GachaBread · 24/06/2020 22:28

I so want to book my holiday for next year and have saw some fantastic deals. I nearly got as far as clicking confirm booking last night and literally bit my hand to stop myself. Everything is crumbling around us at the mo. I keep thinking what if I lose my money if the airline goes bust or the country I want to fly to is not the same because of the Corona. I so want something to look forward too, I need something to look forward too but I can't risk throwing away money or having a sub standard holiday because of restrictions and so forth.

Just watching the news now and baggage handler Swissport have just announced thousands of job losses so I think I will just hold on. What next?

If I book now I can lock in a great price and if I don't then I probably won't be able to afford to go anywhere because prices are set to rocket.

Shufflebumnessie · 24/06/2020 22:42

We were due to fly to Orlando in August but received an email today cancelling our flights (which I'm relieved about).
If things have settled down in the USA we might go and visit DH brother and family in Oklahoma nect July or August. Normally I like to book flights well in advance but I think we'll just wait and see what happens for a while.
We've just bought a tent so hopefully we'll be able to have a few camping trips to Dorset / Devon / Cornwall.

ParisOnWheels · 24/06/2020 23:09

I had intended to go to Scotland in May this year, I hope to do that next year instead.

Dowser · 24/06/2020 23:22

Next year?
I’m still hoping for Tenerife in October and December
I was robbed of a week, as we were evacuated when they went into lockdown on March 16
I still haven’t got over it 😂

Dowser · 24/06/2020 23:25
