If a cut is still bleeding after 3 days would you be worried?

Just that really. DP cut his hand on Monday and it's still bleeding. I thought he needed stitches but he refuses to listen, and I guess it's too late now anyway. He says it's fine and I should shut up.

Actively bleeding constantly or just keeps knocking the scab off and it bleeds a bit then stops?
Sounds like it could have done with being sutured possibly but yes probably too late at 72 hours

Obviouspretzel · 24/06/2020 07:43

I would yes. How bad is the cut ?

It's hard to say how much its bleeding. It's not coming through a plaster but when I put a new one one on it's still bleeding and hasn't got a scab. It's annoying because he keeps making a fuss about it himself (eg can't put his own plaster on) but then gets mad with me for being worried!

Stop fussing over it, let him be. He’s not going to bleed to death and it will either heal or he will give in and go and see someone about it, and if he does that you will be proved right.

If it's not coming through a plaster it hasn't been bleeding for 3 days.

Would he go see a pharmacist who could give advice?

LittleMissRedHat · 24/06/2020 10:04

How big and is the cut?It may still be bleeding because the plaster isn't letting enough air in for it to start scabbing, or it may be that every time you take the plaster off it pulls what little scab is forming off, causing it to start bleeding again. If it's not bleeding through the plaster then it can't be bleeding much. Can he leave it to air, without a plaster on it? Even if that's just in the evening if he is sitting watching TV or something, it will heal much better.

He should leave it to air out if possible, to help scabing. Stop fussing over him if he's refusing your advice.
