Villages near Stamford

Looking to relocate to near Stamford to be half way between family. Looking for a future family home in a village with a school, pub, shop and community feel. Love Stamford but budget is £300k which won't go far in Stamford for ideally a 3 bed. We like period properties and would like a garden and parking. Would consider a small town as well and easy access to the A1 would be fab. Any ideas gratefully received!

If you're happy to look at villages north of Stamford (like Colsterworth) you'll get a lot more for your money, vs villages closer to
Stamford like Wansford and Barnack that are quite pricey (but pretty) Can also get more for your money if you look at villages on the A43 instead of A1, I quite like Kings Cliffe.

Castle Bytham! Fantastic pub called the Fox and Hounds and a great restaurant called the Olive.

Hi,

we live in Wittering which is a few miles away sadly it's most ex RAF housing stock here, which whilst lovely and solid and incredible value might not be what you are after! It is however the loveliest village to live in, all the children play out, lovely school and great community spirit so may be worth keeping an eye out.

I am hopefully going to be starting a new job in Oakham so we have been looking round in Rutland, have you though about looking in Uppingham? lovely town (well its more of a big village really) and I think you would find something within budget.

alternatively about 20 minutes away is Bourne and the villages, again lovely town (i grew up there!) with grammar school, shops, pubs very family orientated etc and close to both Stamford and Peterborough

you could also look further north to near Grantham but I wouldn't recommend that really as can be quite run down, deprived areas etc.

hope this helps :)

Kings Cliffe is lovely, one of my friends lives there. I’m watching this with interest as our search area is a line between Stamford and Oakham and ten miles north and south of it. We’re doing it the other way round - looking at houses we really fancy and discounting them if we don’t like the location.

I grew up in Bourne and in a lovely village nearby called Edenham. There are lots of very nice villages in the area.

Bourne or Ketton?
