What do I want to order for afternoon tea at home?

I need a treat. Pregnant and miserable. I’ve got a Sainsbury’s click and collect for Thursday and I’m going to add some bits so I can do an afternoon tea for the four of us. I can’t bake anything as the oven is being replaced Friday, so it will all be shop bought.

I want to get a couple of fresh baguettes, chips then up small and do ham and coleslaw, maybe cheese and cucumber.

I have to have fondant fancies. I love them.

What else shall we have?

Chop then up small, not chips.

The mini cheese and onion rolls in the chilled section.
Twix cookies from the bakery.

To me afternoon tea is dainty finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, small pastries like eclairs and bite size fruit tarts and delicate, bite size cakes like lemon drizzle and coffee and walnut cake.

Dh wants ginger sandwiches. I’m just thinking with pregnancy cravings to be fair, I want a crunchy baguette 😂

How did I forget about scones?!

Smoked salmon and cream cheese pinwheels, macarons, brownies, scones, clotted cream and strawberries.

Posh crisps.

Can you find a local tea room that will do a takeaway one for you? There are several who do the whole thing.

Ideal if you have morning sickness Grin

We are planning to do something similar next weekend and have added scones, clotted cream, fondant fancies, lemonade, some nice tea, and vanilla clotted cream ice cream.

Would also have added jam if we didn’t already have some.

Sainsbury’s have some nice fresh eclairs you can order in the bakery section Smile

@Toddlerteaplease I did have a look but they all seem to be about £15-20 per head! I can do the whole thing for about £12 if I order the bits myself.

For me it's just olain scones, jam and clotted cream with a big pot of lovely tea

Or

Baguette, selection of yummy cheeses and chutneys washed down with some wine

Yum!

Right so here we go. My order is as stands:

Fondant fancies
Scones, jam, clotted cream
Mini millionaire shortbreads
Mini red velvet fairy cakes
Party ring biscuits (6 year old Dd request Smile)
Strawberries

Mini pork pies (teen Ds request)
Mini quiches
Ham/cucumber and cream cheese/strong cheddar and pickle and lovey soft bread for finger sandwiches (and a massive baguette for me)
Mini pasties

Posh crisps

Some nice tea leaves to make a proper pot of tea.

A big bottle of gaviscon for my inevitable heartburn.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time on this last night. Roll on Thursday! Grin
