What did DH get you as a 50th birthday present

I'd like to say lockdown has made a difference, obviously it would be a far more romantic gift otherwise, but it hasn't.

I'm having a cycle helmet for mountain biking. I had no idea how expensive a good one is. OTOH I'm quite pleased with myself, I don't think every 50yo woman is riding those hills every Monday night

Sounds like a great gift to me. A good helmet really improves your comfort on the bike, I bet you will love it. Great to hear from someone else around my age who loves riding, though I'm a road cyclist predominantly. Not able to ride much at present due to health problems but I cant wait to get back to it in the future. My DH bought me a new bike for my 50th. It was a lovely present as he isn't really into cycling himself and sometimes gets fed up about how much of my time it absorbs so I knew it was given with 100% love. I had to pretend to be surprised, but I wasn't really, as he had asked my son to get info on what I would like, and let's just say he isnt cut out for a life of espionage! I think I managed to act well enough though.

I do most of my riding on the road but we're group of eccentric middle aged women who go for a blast round the woods on a Monday evening. I never had so much fun when I was young (although I do have to shut my eyes on the steep downhills ). I doubt anyone,anywhere was happier when they announced groups of six outdoors was OK.

Sounds fab. I'm in a similar sounding group of middle aged bike nutters but we mainly go for road rides. I do have a mountain bike but its not a good one and I'm a bit of a wuss to be honest. I enjoy pottering along the fire roads and will ride the blue trail at our nearest MTB park if I'm feeling adventurous but that's my absolute limit. I've not got the nerve or the skills for real mountain biking but admire those who do. It looks like great fun.

He booked me on a course that I’ve been wanting to do for years but I never really felt I could justify spending the money on ‘just me’. He researched the courses and called the colleges and everything!

A cruise from Boston to Toronto. We had a great time. It was slow paced and it’s a beautiful part of the world.

Nothing. We don't really do a lot for birthdays generally but I did think I would get something for my 50th. Wrong. I actually thought he was kidding that he hadn't got me anything and had to pretend I wasn't bothered.

Nothing. Every year since we met, he has gone and brought me a McDonald's breakfast, but this year they aren't doing breakfast. Thanks covid!

A trip to Paris to see the final stage of the Tour de France. We camped out near the finish line. It was amazing.

Bits and bobs I brought my own present a 65 tv for the bedroom.
