Words you didn't know you didn't know the meaning of

Last week, at the grand old age of 33, I found out that the meaning of the word earnest is serious / sincere.

I thought it meant keen / eager.

I considered myself to be very well read Hmm so I do not understand how I was unaware of the meaning of this word.

😂 I’m so pedantic when it comes to words.... I used to test a particular colleague/friend at work and give her stickers if she got them right (kind of evil but it was all in good fun - which she agreed- but she didn’t get many stickers 😔😂). My favourite words are mercurial, loquacious and misanthropic.
