Help me with fun things to put on a wish list for my birthday, please

Just that really. I'm a pain, I buy what I need ad hoc, have plenty of jewelry and don't wear much. I usually say perfume, but have so much at the moment.

So what will you suggest? Fun things, hobby items you like, something you love which isn't that obvious until you had it?

And before I get flamed, I'm from a country where wish lists are the normal thing to do Grin.

Please any ideas?

Ooh OP I'm going to watch carefully! It's my birthday soon too and I keep getting asked what I want. I just don't know! Grin

Batinahat · 18/06/2020 22:40

I would have: face mask, posh face cream, nice socks, reeces pieces, chilly bottle, new slippers, pick n mix or chocolates, plant for garden/voucher for garden centre, Amazon vouchers, books, glasses case

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 18/06/2020 22:43

Scented candles, a nice scarf, a house plant... plus two things I really want at the moment... a set of really decent chopping knives and a long thin ceramic plate specifically for a garlic baguette 🙈

RubyFakeLips · 18/06/2020 22:53

Depends where you are and what you're into.

I was recently bought a recipe book with all the unusual ingredients as a set. Think Ottolenghi. Was a fantastic idea.

Breadmaker, Airfryer and Bean to Cup coffee machine are the things I was bought unexpectedly and love. Also recently got myself a label maker that has been a revelation.

Got a Stojo cup for Christmas and used it everyday pre lockdown. Mirabeau gin also went down a storm.

I'm mainly into food/cooking and beauty things like FaceGym or some Drunk Elephant gift sets.

giantangryrooster · 18/06/2020 22:55

Thank you for answering, no wow I must have that yet Grin. Am intrigued about the ceramic garlic board?

squirrel please join.

I thought I might wish for some boho flip flops in leather, but can't find any, if you have suggestions they are welcome.

I've asked for a pizza stone for our oven for my birthday as I couldn't think of anything else & I've always wanted one.

FizzyPink · 18/06/2020 22:59

I would like -

A Neom electric diffuser (DP bought me a cheaper brand and it is crap)
Some big lanterns for the garden we’re trying to make look Moroccan
A Monica Vinader ring
Big rituals diffusers for around the house
The one pan recipe book
Jo Malone candles
A white hotel style robe with my initials embroidered on
Halfeti perfume
Some summery espadrille wedges
Some really expensive chocolates
One of those 1kg bags of pick n mix I keep seeing on Instagram

TheThingWithFeathers · 18/06/2020 23:00

Lego! It's not just for kids.

ShirazSavedMySanity · 18/06/2020 23:00

A monthly cheese delivery
A fortnightly flower delivery

bravotango · 18/06/2020 23:06

One thing I recently bought for myself that I actually really loved was one of those embroidery kits from Etsy. Just a nice thing to do in front of the telly or whatever.

giantangryrooster · 18/06/2020 23:07

OMG you are going to hate me Blush. I don't drink much, give me my crement or Cola and I'm okay.

I love cooking French preferably any good suggestions?

It’s my 50th soon and I have no idea what to ask for but previous presents have included
Vintage lamps, Bakelite phone, vintage watch, Mont Blanc pen, Alexander McQueen scarf, Liberty Homewares, posh notebooks, books - eg classic novels, coffee table books, White company room fragrance, silk PJs, cashmere robe, turntable, records, magazine subscription, Bobbi brown make up brushes, lingerie. Kimono robe. Scandinavian wool blanket. It sounds like a “posh” list I suppose but we try to find things that are bit nicer than your day to day. I think the cashmere robe might be a favourite - lightweight but warm.

giantangryrooster · 18/06/2020 23:14

Posh or not divebar as long as it's inspiring. Btw I'm Scandinavian Smile.

@giantangryrooster

I had to just check the label but it’s by Klippan which I think is Swedish. I love it... I have it thrown on the back of a chair because my house is old and a bit drafty.

occa · 19/06/2020 00:21

My hypothetical wish list is :

A new tent
A day's help from a maintenance person
Some hiking boots
Fruit and veg seedlings
A bread machine
A circular saw

Of course, in real life I'm the LP of youngish DC, so I'll likely get some slightly smushed flowers from the garden if they remember at all Grin

giantangryrooster · 19/06/2020 00:39

divebar yes klippan is Swedish, though I'm not Grin. I have sort of promised myself that next time I buy something wholly (and I appreciate natural fiber clothing, blankets etc), I will try alpaca wool, it is supposed to be even warmer Smile.

@occa your maintenance person is actually a great idea or a cook. Perhaps worth considering. I hope your dc grow up to give you lovely presents (you got to teach them). But I loved the strange flowers, lovely drawings and wonky clay bowls I got when my dc were little 😍.

@MarshmallowsOnToast...I've got a pizza stone on my birthday list too 😄

Ewanthescreamsheep · 19/06/2020 10:06

I'm a recent convert to edinburgh skincare handcream bars, which come in a tin. My hands were suffering with all of the extra handwashing, but they are now so soft and my nails are in much better condition too.
They'd make a lovely small gift.

Thank you Smile.

Some great ideas here!

SweetLathyrus · 19/06/2020 14:01

This may not sound fun, OP, and I bought it to be practical (rainy supermarket queue), but, it has been making me smile for the last week:

giantangryrooster · 19/06/2020 14:18

Oh SweetLathyrus, I love that, it is so up my street, love the colours and I like a not boring umbrella, so much so I actually bought this on a holiday (just discovered the handle has come off).

Love it @giantangryrooster! The perfect replacement.

It's really strong - perfect for Northern European weather, but I have to hide it from my daughter who is coverting it!

giantangryrooster · 19/06/2020 14:51

Can't blame your dd SweetLathyrus, I would have it hanging upside down indoors, if it wouldn't look weird, such happy colours Smile.
