Frost Free Freezer - do I need to defrost it before Curry's recycle it?

The fridge part of our fridge freezer has packed up. The freezer part is absolutely fine. Looking at a new one on the Currys website and they will take away the old one when they deliver. They state that fridge freezers must be defrosted first but mine is frost free? Do I still need to switch it off overnight or will an hour or so do? Really don't want to lose all the frozen food in it that's perfectly fine! Thanks in advance!

My guess is that they don't want it full of ice that's going to leak everywhere when it melts, so if there's no ice because it's frost free, that sounds OK to me.

I'd just prep the food by putting it in coolbags, wrapping in a spare duvet, putting in the coolest room in the house or whatever you can do to keep it cool while the new freezer is down to temperature.

I'm sure I've heard that they need to stand for a few hours before you can switch them on so you might need to either try and borrow someone's freezer space or get a big coolbox and proper icepacks to keep whatever you have in there cool. Maybe check the instruction manual online for the model you're buying so you can be prepared.
