Anyone thinking of starting Christmas prep now?

Am wondering what deliveries will be like. Also wondering if shops might get closed. Not that if want to make multiple highstreet trips anyways.

Think I'm going to scale it down this year but I think I'd feel better if maybe I started to get the kids presents now

Nope

I've started. There's an offer on a clothing brand I like, so have picked up a few bits for the nieces and nephews.

I always leave it late otherwise, so may as well get organised.

YouReallyAre · 15/06/2020 17:17

I've started and bought some presents for DD, just need to hide them for 6 months!

One2Three4Five6 · 15/06/2020 17:54

I've started. I always pick things up throughout the year anyway present wise. But I have also decided to treat myself to the start of the expensive Christmas village I've always wanted, but couldn't justify the cost. I am currently not paying out on any form of childcare at the moment, so I am using bits of that money to fund it while I can.
Things like decorations etc are often cheaper at this time of year if you can find any online, so I have been keeping an eye on a few bits.

I am not mad (maybe a tiny bit) but I always get stuff in January and it gives me a head start. Crackers. Gift wrap. Stuff like that. I always keep a small stash of presents that I end up using on a rainy day.

MrsR87 · 15/06/2020 18:01

I would normally be starting now. I do a stocking of bits and bobs for hubby, my mum and my dad and I usually start buying these things now. However, it’s usually things that I find in smaller, independent shops so I can’t really start yet as I don’t want to go into town until the chaos clams down a bit and I can get a drink and use the loo lol! 😂

ThursdayLastWeek · 15/06/2020 18:03

I’ve certainly started squirrelling some of my furlough money away!

SnuggyBuggy · 15/06/2020 18:06

Be nice to have something to look forward to

I need to tell my family that we want to have Xmas just the four of us at home with no long drives to see anyone.

My sister is offering to host but her partner is miserable as fuck and I don’t want a miserable Xmas.

We are planning on adding another rescue dog to our family (already have one ddog) and I don’t want any disruption to settling them in.

I need to grow a pair and break the news sooner rather than later!!!

Standrewsschool · 15/06/2020 18:16

I’m putting money aside for Christmas.

Also, I keep a beady eyes on sales. Annoyingly, the branded shirt’s I wanted from John Lewis sold out in the sale.

Chemenger · 15/06/2020 18:18

There is a whole Christmas section where you can talk about Christmas all year long.

motorcyclenumptiness · 15/06/2020 18:21

Had me sprouts on a low simmer since April

Good grief, it's bad enough when people post about Christmas stuff around August time, not June.!

ForeverBubblegum · 15/06/2020 19:27

Haven't brought anything yet, but have started to get lists together. Both kids have autum birthdays, so I tend to plan the gifts for both at the same time so that I can split them evenly. It also helps to get an idea of how much I'm going to spend (including birthday parties), so I can put money aside for the expensive months.
