Who is your favourite Beano character?

30 years on I'm now buying Beanos again and it's really nice to see some of the same characters I loved so much - I'm going to keep reading them even if no one else in the house does!

My favourite was always Calamity James and I'm really interested to know who is/was everyone else's favourite!

I liked The Bash Street Kids, and Gnasher.

Gnasher! I remember well the time he disappeared and returned with loads of pups!

We had a subscription to the Beano for a few years back in the day....

I was a firm Bash Street Kids fan. (Still am).

I had these 2 badges when I was younger. My eldest brother knicked them and used them in his school play, when playing a naughty boy!

Loved the beano as a kid! My favourite was the numbskulls

I liked Roger the Dodger and Billy Whizz. I had those badges too. And the 'smart black plastic wallet' to keep them in. I remember saving up pocket money and then lining up in the post office to buy my £1.50 postal order so I could send off for the Beano Fan Club membership.

From a paid up fan club member in the 80's.

Surprisingly given my user name, it's Minnie the Minx and the Bash Street Kids. Although if ds2 was a girl he would have been called Ivy (the terrible).

I had the badges too! I’d completely forgotten until I saw this post we got it delivered I think it was on a Wednesday and I remember me and my sisters having to take turns on who got to read it first. My Granny and Grandpa always got us the Beano and Dandy annuals for Christmas and they had some old Beano annuals at their house that had been my Dads and his siblings. I’ve got some of those in my loft now that I got after my Grandparents died. Very happy memories.

My favourite were the numskulls - those little people who lived inside the head. A bit like inside out.

Weren't the Numskulls in the Beezer?

Some characters from Beezer/Topper/Dandy now turn up in the Beano BalloonSlayer as the Beano is the only one still being published.

I can only remember Minnie the Minx, that's because my days of reading The Beano, and Dandy were in the late 1940 era ha ha.
