Likelihood of UK holidays from 4th July

What do you all think the likelihood of UK hotels, cottages, campsites etc will be of opening from 4th July?

I’ve noticed that quite a few companies have said they are taking bookings from 4th July onwards but nothing is confirmed.

I know it’s like looking into a crystal ball, but do you think they will actually open from then?

I don't have an answer for you I'm afraid, but I'm following with interest. Hopefully others will contribute.

They'll have to announce it in the next week or two if they will be as it would be very hard for a hotel to be up and running with less than a week or two's notice.

They'd need to get supplies in, make sure all rooms are clean and fresh, sort staffing rotas and probably loads of other things.

I read something a few days ago about the skeleton staff that were keeping a hotel ticking over during lockdown, there were a few of them doing things like running the taps and flushing the toilets once or twice a week to keep legionella at bay, checking for problems and just making sure everything remained functional.

They'd closed all the curtains and opened all the drawers in the room so it didn't get musty, so they'd have to sort all that out. I'd expect that the beds would all need making after this amount of time too.

I think for any 'significant' changes like hotels etc opening, plus starting international flights again, restaurants and other attractions opening up, they're going to give notice. No-one's going to suddenly find that the holiday that's booked in 2 days time is back on again after not knowing for months.

Suspect self-catering and caravans may open up first before hotels, although of course I don't know.

The self catering place we stay at regularly is expecting to open up from the fourth. It has altered check in /out times to allow for extra cleaning and check in and out is all done remotely anyway.

I know a few people who own and run these places. They are planning for 5th July, or thereabouts, but they dont know. Its up to the Government to allow them to open and they havent said so yet.

Hopefully they will be able to as it will cost them a fortune in planning time, stock etc to have to turn around and spend yet another month cancelling and rebooking.

But its not set in stone, sadly.

I bloody hope so! We have a cottage booked for the 4th for a week

I’m also hoping they confirm something very soon.
I have a cottage booked for the 13th July and have to pay the balance by the 22nd of June

Apparently caravan parks could reopen but without communal facilities.. Swimming pool, entertainment. I can't wait to sit in the caravan and do sod all.
