Does anyone live/know hotels near Stratford Upon Avon?

I’ve been watching Shakespeare and Hathaway. In series 2 they go to an hotel which is given a different name. I think I stayed there years ago but I can’t find it online. It’s distinctive because it had a big sweeping drive in and pillars into the main entrance. We stayed in an annexe off the hotel. Does anyone know it?

Ah I think it’s Walton Hall! It’s actually quite a long way out of Stratford which might be why I couldn’t find it to start with. Thank you all for the suggestions. For some reason it was really bugging me!

I was going to say Walton Hall, it’s 5 miles out of Stratford through Wellesbourne. It has an Annexe as well as the main hotel.

It seems to be Wroxhall Abbey. It is now permanently closed. However, if you have very deep pockets it is up for rent.

VeniVidiWeeWee I looked at Wroxhall Abbey, seems they left a lot of couples who were booked to get married in the lurch when they shut!

Yes looking through this wedding ventures website it’s definitely there...of course now I’ll be inundated with wedding adverts!

Anyone brave enough to contact Savils to ask how much?

I grew up not far from Stratford upon Avon so we often had day trips out. I know Wroxhall Abbey because my grandfather worked on historic buildings and that was his job. They featured Coughton Court in the first episode (another one of his jobs!). I’m enjoying the show because of the familiar surroundings!

The entrance I snapped and the photos of Walton Hall look the same compared to my memories (it was 10 years ago!) so I think it’s that.

It looks like Ettington Park Hotel to me.

howells you’re right based on the topiary at the front it’s definitely Ettington Park Hotel! But the hotel I stayed at was Walton Hall. I think the entrance hall where he was photographed might be Walton Park? Anyway! I’m going to bed!

I'm chuffed to have found it for you! I have family in that area, that's the only reason I knew of that place. I love that area and miss it so much

I grew up in that area too. I've never been to Ettington Park although I've seen it from the road (it was my dh who recognised it), but I have been in Walton Hall (40-odd years ago when it was owned by Danny la Rue, and it was exceedingly blingy back then!!).

howells it’s called Shakespeare and Hathaway, it’s on BBC I player. They’re private detectives working from an office in Stratford but it’s all filmed on location in and around that area. It’s quite cheesy, generally light hearted. I’m enjoying the scenery at any rate!

I once stayed at Ettington Park with work, it was gorgeous. I was newly pregnant, felt rubbish, hand’t told my my boss who i was travelling with, and it was lovely to hide in such a gorgeous room

The stay sounds nice DIKateFleming aside from the feeling rubbish!

A couple of episodes on now and they did go to Walton Hall! The front is the same. Then they used the reception for the spa for a tennis club.
