Playmobil - best place to buy?

DS has suddenly become a big Playmobil fan after having a few sets handed down to him.

We’re looking to get some extra figures to add in to the sets and I was hoping someone might know where the best place to buy these would be?

Amazon sometimes have good offers. I've picked some up in supermarkets too.

Facebook market place/gumtree. Facebook also have playmobil pages where you could buy secondhand from other parents/sellers which are good as you can ask if anyone is selling specific things e.g. figures to bulk out your collection.

You need MN poster @Somuchtobits - she is a Playmobil expert!

Tesco and John Lewis often have half price sets.

The Playmobil website do big discounts too.

Someaddedsugar · 07/06/2020 10:47

Thanks all - I’ll have a look at Facebook as hadn’t thought of there. Nothing on Gumtree in our area but will set up an alert in case something comes up in the future.

It might also be worth putting a message on a local Facebook group if you have one as now is a perfect time for people to be clearing out old unplayed with toys. Sometimes Ebay is also good especially if you find a local bundle listed for collection only.

I got some really good big sets from the play mobile web site at Xmas, I was really impressed by the special offers.

SoMuchToBits · 07/06/2020 11:04

Playmobil website has some good offers from time to time if you are after complete sets, especially their "bundles" (several sets from the same theme at a discount).

eBay can be good, if you don't want complete sets, but are just after a random assortment of figures/accessories. Complete sets can be quite expensive on there, but random bundles less so.

But also worth looking on either Gumtree or local FB pages to see if there is anything going cheap second hand.

If you join the playmobil club, they send you birthday/Christmas cards and a single use 20 percent of their website voucher.
There are various facebook groups where people sell their second hand bits.
Amazon has bargains sometimes.

We bought some used sets from eBay, to go with new ones which we bought for birthday and Christmas. It was always immaculate, and might have been missing a few tiny flowers or something but it didn’t affect play value.

Someaddedsugar · 07/06/2020 20:32

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Looking into all of these now!

When DD was in Playmobil age we bought figures and extra sets either via the Playmobil website or EBay. We found several sellers who kind of specialised in selling certain figure groups and were always great conditions,

Otherwise it is a case of shopping around.

NeverTwerkNaked · 07/06/2020 20:49

The Playmobil website is good
I also look second hand although it does sell fast!
