Can I take Movicol with Gaviscon and esomeprazole?

I’m desperate, please can anyone help? Taking Gaviscon twice a day and the PPI 10mg twice a day.

I would call a chemist but it’s Sunday. Thanks.

I've googled and can't see anything to suggest you can't take these medicines together. I am no expert though.

i assume you are constipated why not try glycerine pessaries? you just insert them so they wont interfere with anything you are taking

I tried a glycerine suppository and it didn't work, hence complete desperation! I’m eating lentils, drinking loads of water, walking...

Gaviscon and omeprozole work in different ways, take one only not both. I would take omeprozole although it isn't as fast at giving relief. Glycerine suppositories are excellent.

Rightmovestalker · 07/06/2020 11:06

I’ve been told to take both by an ENT surgeon.

Use another one and just plonk yourself down on the loo with a good book.

To answer your question, yes you can take Movicol if you’re taking esomeprazole and gaviscon - I was on all 3 last year when pregnant and struggling with the resultant side effects!! Movicol won’t counteract either medication because it’s designed to work in the gut not the stomach, to soften stools making it easier to pass - depending on how long it’s been, you might want to speak to a Dr/pharmacist about an increasing dose regime (though, after a few days of it, you may not need to increase the dose). Try sitting on the loo with your feet raised on a step or similar as the change of pelvic position often helps get things moving!!

Thank you very much @Rememberallball! I called a pharmacist who said fine but leave an hour between Gaviscon / PPI and Movicol so that’s what I’ve done.
