What app to listen to music offline on an android phone?

Most of the music I listen to is independent musicians - either CDs bought at gigs which I put into itunes, or downloads bought via Bandcamp / direct from their websites. My elderly ipod has finally lost the plot, & it'd be nice to have more music to listen to when I'm out & about anyways. Any recs for best app to do that? I'm happy listening to whole albums, no particular need for playlists etc though no objection to them as an option (very old skool I know). Needs to be offline as I don't have much signal at work.

I use Spotify and you can listen to things in your library offline

Can you download your own music to spotify?

Your phone would have come with a default music app, mine came with Google Play Music which I used for years (with my own music) before moving to Spotify. Play music would both play files I put directly on my phone and files I'd uploaded through their website.

You can't add your own music to Spotify.

Yes, I suspect Google Play music might just be the best option. Only wondering if anyone had any particularly good alternatives :)

OK, so dense question, but what's the best way to get music from my computer hard drive onto my phone & into google play music? Put it in my google drive then go from there?

Play music lets you drag and drop files directly into the website, it doesn't go in your drive (so doesn't take up the space there!) As far as I know there's no limit, or at least I didn't encounter it.

Google Play works well. I used to use this before Spotify subscription that enables offline playing.

If I remember I used to connect phone to PC via USB, and copy the files from there to the music folder on the phone.

Also, check out AIMP ... that’s a good free option too with Android and PC player
