Completed on house purchase but seller has not received the money yet?

My lawyer sent the funds yesterday early afternoon and gave me confirmation of completion but the seller’s lawyer is saying the funds have not been received by them. My lawyer says it’s not my or his problem or fault as he’s sent the funds.

Any idea what the reason might be and what can be done?

I think if it was a bank transfer it can take up to five working days especially if it's a large sum of money and also depends on banks.

A lawyer transferring funds for a house sale should be instantaneous.

I would have a read of this article.

Have all the details been double checked?

All resolved now - thanks to those who responded. Just took over 24 hours - unsure why

I’m a solicitor in commercial property. Must be a bank issue. The cut off time for a TT is 3.30pm and they can take a while. Sometimes the other side has the money within half an hour sometimes takes ages.

Sometime the account team is slow sending it to the bank!

Glad it’s resolved though
