My sil had a baby the end of April. She is my DH brothers partner. Obviously with Corona we didn't expect to see baby but we have found out that all our family members have seen/visited baby at some stage. They just happened to be in the area or just happened to have to collect something etc etc. We didn't want to risk the babies health by asking to visit but I text SIL regularly and asked how they all were. She replies and sends pictures but never gets in touch first. When I do text I always say we can't wait to meet the baby and all I get is "ah yeh". Then, my daughter seen on tik tok that one of her mammy friends from the children's school visited my sil last week with her three children. Like wtf??? My DH keeps saying just text her to see if we can visit but I don't want to be pushy. She knows we can't wait to see him so don't understand why we are not being invited. What do YOU think?

your DH should speak to his brother to arrange a visit surely?

Why doesn't your husband make arrangements with his brother to visit safely?

She knows we can't wait to see him

So? Babies aren’t a commodity to be shown off just so people can get a nosey in, and that’s especially true during a pandemic.

When I had just given birth I didn’t think it was my job to text people and arrange for them to visit. If they wanted to visit they’d ask when was convenient for us.

Stay out of it, your DH should just ask his DB when would be a good time for you to pop round.

@Hearstonacake, that's exactly why we haven't visited as we are abiding by the rules and would never endanger anybodys health. Our lockdown is eased now and we are allowed visit. My DH brother works abroad so he left the country yesterday and won't be back home for another month. It was the same when they moved into their new house, we were ne @ver invited even though my DH did a lot of work for them. They lived in a rental property for 8 years and we were never invited even though they were regular guests in our home. I'm starting to feel they actually have an issue with me.

I suppose I didn't want to put pressure on my sil and was leaving it to her to decide when she was up for a visit. Yes your right though, not getting involved. DH can arrange something.

I would just back off then and let your DH have the relationship with his brother on their terms. Doesn't sound like they are especially close or that it's possibly a bit one way.

My in laws are all very lovely but I haven't felt the need to build a relationship with them particularly although I enjoy their company when I see them. I think that's fairly common.

I here what your @sugarfreehopefully. We used to be quite close but over the last couple of years I feel I'm just tolerated. Hubby and I went through a bad patch about 3 years ago and his whole family got involved. Hasn't been the same since.
