Spoiler alert if you haven't watched!

What are your Downton Abbey favourite characters and least favourite characters. Why?

Most favourites
The Dowager Countess - I want to be like her when I grow up.

Mrs Patmore - Love her "northernness" but not so much when she's ordering Daisy about.

Thomas Barrow - Loved to hate generally but made the show exciting. Hated at first but loved towards the end.

Least favourites
Lady Mary - Uurgh! From beginning to the end except when she lost Matthew. Felt for her.

Tom Branson - Didn't quite like him throughout but thought he was okay by the end. Didn't miss him when he left for a while.

Cora - Wouldn't have missed her in the show if she never showed up. Had no hate, just indifference.

We call Lady Mary, Lady Harsh Face in our house! Urgh.

I like Branson, bless him, he got a bit chubby and came back quite svelte in the film.

I found the Anna and Bates storyline really unconvincing and kind of weird.

I can't see how Sybil was spoilt either. I thought she was a bit ignored too - they indulged her rebellious nature in quite a patronising way. They didn't at all realise how deep her passions ran - and neitjer of her parents suspected her relationship with the chauffeur!

I thought Sybil was seen as irrelevant by her family until she fell for Branson - Mary bullied Edith but couldn't even be bothered to bully Sybil, her parents ignored her, and only allowed her to become a nurse because it solved a problem for them in knowing what to do with her when it became clear she was interested in politics.
