All 19 or thereabouts,I am shielding, one of the friends has a parent who is shielding.

They have not seen each other for weeks and weeks...

They came around earlier for a BBQ (watched them through the patio doors) and they all socially distanced, they then went for a long walk to a local beauty spot, as they left I shouted after them, social distancing please.

DS turned and replied, I have come this far, I am not messing it up now. Grin

As an aside, how much food can three nineteen year old teens eat. ? Shock

I went out into the garden to bring plates, Dorritos etc, ( so I could close the doors and leave them to it)

As I left one of them turned to me and said thank you for this, I haven't seen my own peer group for months. Sad

That’s lovely. My 20 year old went to meet her boyfriend for the first time in 10 weeks; she assures me they’ve stayed 2metres apart and I believe her.

Our kids are not the problem. Even though the risk to them is tiny.

Our next door neighbour is 22, and his sister is 19. They’ve both been having socially distanced garden parties. They put on music, they laugh uproariously... and by 8:15pm they always pack up and go their separate ways. They know we have young kids and they are so utterly respectful of it - I’ve never even had to ask them to keep things down. I’m so thankful and admiring of them. They’re good folks. This crisis has truly brought out the best in some people.

Oh I feel for teenagers so much. It's the hardest time in your life to be away from friends. They should be finding their independence, living a carefree life, getting into physical relationships.
Instead they have no social life, no studying, no interactions.
I would have struggled so much being with my parents for so long at that age.
Well done to him.

Well if I were to be picky I would say they did break lockdown as currently you're only allowed to meet with one person while social distancing - but as that changes tomorrow it's not as bad as Dominic Cummings’ disregard for the rules.
