Put up a line or two from an 80s song for people to guess.

Starting you off with...

you feel the cold hand
And wonder if you'll ever see the sun

“Oh I know I should come clean, but I prefer to deceive.”

Digging your scene. The blow monkeys.

@ProseccoBubbleFantasies

And here's an easy one, cos the one above probably wasn't

Self-doubt and selfism

I thought this was really easy, but I'll give you the next line.

Self doubt and selfism
Were the cheapest things I ever brought

ProseccoBubbleFantasies · 05/06/2020 20:27

Bruce Springsteen, lilgreen
I'm on fire, I think (but I've got everything else wrong today)

Spot on @prosecco

Honeyroar · 05/06/2020 20:33

I used to love I’m on Fire, but it’s just so creepy really!

lilgreen · 05/06/2020 20:38

I know what you mean @honey but not sure if I’m projecting. I just love the song and can’t think that Bruce would mean it that way.BlushConfused

Honeyroar · 05/06/2020 20:39

Oh that’s bad
No that’s good.

lilgreen · 05/06/2020 20:39

If the mountain should crumble or disappear into the sea, not a tear, not not I.

lilgreen · 05/06/2020 20:40

S Express

Honeyroar · 05/06/2020 20:41

There are a lot of songs I used to love that had lyrics that are really annoying now. So many songs about cheating and waiting for them to come back to you - No! Bin him now!!

Honeyroar · 05/06/2020 20:42

Yes it was S Express lilgreen. Yours is the wonderful Pride by U2.

Fleamaker123 · 05/06/2020 20:47

@Honeyroar

Or they're about sex and drugs... I was blissfully ignorant at the time! I've just read lyrics to Heaven 17 Come live with me 'I was 37 you were 17' Shock

lilgreen · 05/06/2020 20:48

Not Pride @Honeyroar

AJumpedUpPantryBoy · 05/06/2020 20:52

@RiftGibbon

kemosabe it would fall into Indie. I believe it came out in 1988. The singer has since been very successful as a solo artist.
I think it is Bjork - am grappling for the song title though
TinDogTavern · 05/06/2020 20:53

@lilgreen yours is Stand By Me

lilgreen · 05/06/2020 20:53

No @TinDogTavern

lilgreen · 05/06/2020 20:58

.....It’s raining outside yeah, you must be soaking wet.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 05/06/2020 20:59

Prosecco. Echo and the Bunnymen Back of Love?

RiftGibbon · 05/06/2020 21:03

No, lilgreen - I think that may have been a later song.
The one that's still outstanding was by a band fronted by a female singer. They were in the indie camp - the sort of thing John Peel would play. The singer is now well known although still quite ....um...indie. Well, odd, maybe a better word.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 05/06/2020 21:04

Oh, talking of songs that we didn’t notice had dodgy lyrics at the time, here’s an ok bit from a lyric I now find really disturbing

When I, you, and everyone we knew
Could believe, do, and share in what was true

Honeyroar · 05/06/2020 21:04

@lilgreen Sorry, The Unforgettable Fire then, which is also epic!

@Fleamaker123 I know, I loved Come Live with me too! Someone mentioned a Mission song on the last thread that was absolutely gross, but it practically went over my head at the time!
