Why wont my legs tan?!?!

It's so frustrating!
Everywhere else on my body tans, even my feet. But my legs, below the knee just stay milk bottle white!
Anyone know why? Or can anyone recommend anything to use to help tan naturally?

I'm sure I've read somewhere that it's due to the skin on your legs being thicker, and not producing as much melanin as other parts of the body.

Please promise you won't ever use Baby Oil or similar.

I used oil on my legs once in Barbados, 30 years ago. They burnt to fuck with giant blisters. Weeks after I got home I went to a sweaty nightclub and the blisters came back up. God knows what damage I did and how I averted skin cancer.

I sit in the garden with my legs out on a lounger and a parasol over my head, shoulders and upper body and arms. So shade from the waist up. It does work but takes time.

My top half still gets tanned when I'm walking in the sun but this helps my legs catch up!

Baby oil?! Never. Factor 15 at least.

I'm quite fair skinned but tan quite well. I'm always careful on sunny holidays and wear 50 for the first few days then down to 25 for the second. My legs are the only part that don't tan.

So last year I thought I'd be savvy and start with the 50 everywhere else but start with 25 on the old legs. Noticed a bit of colour and was pleased. Until I saw a photo of me one evening wearing a short playsuit.

I honestly looked raise. Thought I was wearing a pair of white knee socks or something. The feet were lovely and brown. My thighs.... golden. Face, arms, bronzed.

But not the shins. Still milk bottle pale.

Won't be a problem this year...I'll be pale all over.
