Best of British: Food

Due to online shopping substitution, I recently discovered Wilkin & Sons Tiptree jam, which we had never bought before. Raspberry seedless is DELICIOUS! We won’t be going back to Bonne Maman. Plus with things as they are I am keen to support British small businesses.

Does anyone have any other recommendations of things to try?

I know Tiptree is not really small, but it isn’t Coca-Cola or similar

Have you thought to go to a local farm shop as they normally stock local preservatives and local produce that way you can find what is local to you

Solasum · 29/05/2020 10:02

@Hill1991 sadly am in the middle of a city and carless, so reliant on whatever the supermarkets can provide

Tiptree raspberry is the best! They do a Clementine marmalade as well which is gorgeous as is their lemon curd.

Belvoir Cordials
Tyrrells Crisps
Yeo Valley yogurt
Jude’s Ice cream
Shaken Udder Milkshake

@LadyPenelope68 clementine marmalade sounds great, will look out for that

@Ricekrispie22 I didn’t know this ice cream or milkshake, will add to the list!

Tiptree Little Scarlet is gorgeous too!

Godminster Cheese can be bought online and in supermarkets. I like Duchy Originals shortbread.

Agree Belvoir cordials, Yeo Valley stuff and Tyrells crisps are lovely Solasum. Need to try your other tips.

Any british rapeseed oil producer (cold pressed) can be used in salad dressings and the like - hass a nutty taste. We use Farrintons because they were one of the first

The Great British Porridge Co is stocked in Sainsbury’s and they’re a small company which I remember seeing on Dragon’s Den!
Also:
Jackson’s of Yorkshire bread
Munchy Seeds

Fentiman's soft drinks and mixers.
McLeod's black pudding.
Craster kippers.
Yorkshire tea which is now 50% of the UK market, and still a family firm.

Shaws onion chutney is gorgeous. The company is local to us.

Also Yorkshire Dama halloumi cheese. Smile
