Is there a drawing tablet like an ipad with a pen but under £300?

Not one you plug into a laptop.

But an actual tablet you can draw on with a pen?

I think an Apple Pen draws on an iPad. Just started to look into it.

CharmingB · 28/05/2020 08:11

It's a couple of years old now but I have a Samsung Galaxy tab that came with an s pen built in which was under £300.

Abagobones · 28/05/2020 11:37

I cant find an ipad and pen under 300. The pens alone are 90

I'll look into Samsung. Thanks.

Depends on what you want it for. Quality may not be great at under £300.

I'm trying to decide at the moment between this Samsung S6, which comes with a pen, and the basic ipad. I'll probably go for the ipad because reviews say the Samsung is slower and more glitchy.

Wacom are a brand I've seen recommended on lots of art groups. I think there are different models for different budgets.
Or you could look at getting a second hand iPad with the pen. The 10" ones are good for drawing on.

SuckingDieselFella · 28/05/2020 11:54

Amazon have reconditioned ipads which are guaranteed for a year but you'd still have to buy the pen separately.

Abagobones · 28/05/2020 11:56

It's for an 11 year old so under 300 is generous enough.

Wacom do the ones that attach to a laptop don't they?

I need an actual tablet you draw onto, not that you have a seperate screen.

The Samsung is OOS at JL.

I'd rather go with the Samsung. I have a hatred for apple

I thought Wacom did stand alone drawing tablets. But I could be wrong sorry

SuckingDieselFella · 28/05/2020 12:01

It's currently out of stock but they come back in every few days.

I've been watching both the ipad and the Samsung while I decide between them.

I'm also not a fan of apple but the £350 ipad apparently has a better screen.

For an 11 year old I'd get a second hand ipad.

My DD is 12 and got a Samsung s6 for Christmas. She uses it primarily for drawing and hasn't had any issues with it.

Abagobones · 28/05/2020 12:03

It's her birthday present so I don't really want to go 2nd hand. She's not getting anything else as it costs so much.

She wants to be a graphic designer.

The Samsung s6 is out of your price range but older models / reconditioned can be good quality, and the pens work well.

DD17 has an Acer Spin 11 Chromebook, it works just like a regular chromebook, but the screen also flips right round and it then becomes a tablet. Uses Google apps. She loves it and it's pretty robust.

SuckingDieselFella · 28/05/2020 12:10

The Acer comes with a stylus and it's £279 on amazon. Its designed for family use.

madamy · 28/05/2020 12:10

Argos link - limited stock unfortunately. £329 at Currys here

I've got an old wacom bamboo that plugs into a laptop. It is years old but still in good working order, if I was you I would have a look what their newer ones are like.

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/05/2020 12:13

We bought our son one for £20 on amazon and it’s absolutely fine. Really good reviews. It’s a meko.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/05/2020 12:14

I was coming on to recommend the Acer Spin too.

SuckingDieselFella · 28/05/2020 12:17

Sounds like the Acer is the one for you, if you can find a 64GB one.

I had an Acer chromebook years ago and they're fun to use.

Abagobones · 28/05/2020 12:35

Bee she doenst have a loptop to plug a wacom into.

Sorry to be thick but does the acer spin come with a pen /stylus? I can't see the correct info

Thanks for all your help btw

madamy · 28/05/2020 12:37

Yes, the Curry's one details a Wacom pen in the specs as in the box.

SuckingDieselFella · 28/05/2020 12:38

Find a retailer that sells it and it will be in the product info.

StirlingWork · 28/05/2020 12:52

The only thing that sprung to my mind was 'Etch a Sketch'!!! I'm not very techy.
