Parcel recorded as arrived before it arrived. Has this happened to you?

Parcel supposed to arrive by 4pm. Was several hours late so went to shops leaving DS at home with orders to answer door. Got a text saying it had been delivered. Phoned DS but it hadn't arrived. He checked outside as well Grin Then got an email as well saying it had arrived.

Came home all prepared to email Hermes. Then there was a knock at the door and parcel arrived.

Would you contact Hermes tomorrow? I would say there was 15 minutes difference in time.

Then

I knew this was going to be about Hermes! Yes, it's happened to me. I questioned it when they arrived and they said they'd made a mistake with their signing device and another customer had signed for my parcel instead of their own.

Since you did get your parcel, I wouldn't bother contacting them - knowing what their customer service is like, it won't achieve anything.

I once got a message to say that my parcel had been delivered while I was out. It specifically said it had been put through my letterbox. I knew that what I had ordered was far too big to fit through the letterbox! Got home - no sign of it. Contacted their customer services and explained the above. "Can't help you." they said, "Our records show it was put through your letter box" Yes, I KNOW - that's the problem!

By luck, I found it in our front garden a couple of days later - it had been stuffed in a hedge.

I am always surprised when companies choose delivery companies with poor reputations.

Some are excellent. Some are dire.

This seems to be happening more and more. I guess it’s so the drivers meet their targets but it is stressful when you don’t know what has happened to your parcel.

Hermes is up there as the worst delivery company I’ve ever dealt with and contact details if there’s a problem. I had a parcel from H&M that they said they had delivered and I never located the parcel again so I’m sure it was never delivered at all. Luckily, H&M took my word for it and reimbursed me but I missed out on the items for dd as they were in the sale and limited stock

Not quite that, but I had a delivery by dpd. I had a message that said they'd tried to deliver but I wasn't there, so I then went through the faff of figuring out websites and such. Only to find out they'd stopped down the road from where I lived.
I discovered that the driver was new and they didn't use any satnav, just stopped where it showed on their map.
Next day I watched their app, when it was close to time, I actually stood outside and watched for them. Sure enough the driver stopped in the same place, so I had to toddler to him.
I live at #2 he'd stopped outside #38, clearly common sense is not used. I mean surely anyone with half a brain cell would look at the paperwork and numbers and work out what was what.

This happened to me yesterday with Hermes. I was baffled!

PolkaDotsPolka · 26/05/2020 22:49

Yes it's happened to me. It was supposed to be delivered within a 2 hour time slot. One minute before the time slot was up it got marked as delivered. I checked everywhere and couldn't find the parcel. About an hour later the delivery driver turns up and hands over the parcel. It seems he was going to miss the delivery target so just signed for the parcel himself!

I had it so bad with Hermes that I stopped using a specific pet store and complained about it. They were happy to talk to Her es and reimburse me but as I had to rush around to get pet food I wasn’t taking another chance,

Amazon had it for a while as well, told me that an order was cancelled as the item was faulty only for a delivery person banging down my door mid-winter at 9pm to deliver it. Other times it was handed to a nice neighbour three doors down without letting me know and he actually out for a week.

DH works from home,it is very rare that he can’t answer the door and I try to avoid orders when he is on a business trip. Still, it is amazing that delivery drivers prefer to put parcels in the rubbish bin, a day prior to collection, or in a shed which has a hug lock on and squeezed it through a gap.

Well they must be doing something right because there an AWFUL lot of 5 reviews on Trust Pilot along with a lot of 1 reviews....

Unless Trust Pilot is not to be trusted .........Grin

Had the opposite with Hermes today - parcel delivered and then about 3 hours later I had a text and email to say my parcel would be delivered within the next 2 hours, then another text saying it had been delivered.
Bizarre but I just thought their computer system was playing up and thought no more. Generally Hermes have been pretty good for deliveries round here.
