The most perfect escapism Netflix Show - Sweet Magnolias

It is just what I need right now - gorgeous sets, very Gilmore Girls-esque, lots of burgeoning romance, a spa being set up by friends (in a building so like Loralei's and Sookie's hotel), it's perfect BH fodder.

I watched it all on Saturday. It's totally not me really, I'm usually a star trek, marvel kind of girl, but I do like a bit of escapist chick lit too and sweet magnolias fitted that niche perfectly.

Absolute trash, but in a good way. And I recognised Cal from the Knight rider reboot!

Well, I was totally enjoying it until the final episode. Won't say anything because of spoilers but honestly, what was wrong with the feel good sweetness of the whole thing before that?

[although did anyone else feel that really, dating her son's coach WAS a bit off?]

And Dayna Sue is too bitchy to her daughter.
Twas good though

God I love these sort of shows. I always wonder if small towns in America are really like this? It’s the sort of place I’d love to live where everyone know everyone and there’s always some sort of town celebration/ball game/dance!!

Other similar I’ve liked are
Virgin river
The god witch
Chesapeake shores
Hart of Dixie
Gilmore Girls
When calls the heart
Dolly Partons heart strings

@brieandchill - I was enjoying When Calls the Heart but the fact that they just couldn't get engaged was starting to really hack me off and bore me. Then I saw something online about what happened to him and it just pissed me off so much I stopped watching. Netflix still keeps saying, "continue watching..." and highlighting it and it annoys me now.

I'm only on the 3rd episode - I'm cringing at Maddie and Cal because her son has been through enough but then I'm thinking, aw, but she deserves some happiness too.
And I want the lawyer to get together with the chef.
Kinda feel sorry for the pregnant nurse, she's crazy naive. Carl? is horrible. Maddie has dodged a bullet there although she can't see it yet.
Her house is beautiful and I can't wait to see the spa building finished.
Dayna Sue needs medicating - she's sooo stressy. I don't think I would want margaritas with her. I just feel like giving her daughter a big hug.

Cliffhanger ending is so annoying when the next season won't be here for years. Also why were they subtitling Shakespeare? Loved it though.
