What benefits for a 17 year old pregnant girl?

Was 17 last month, 8 weeks pregnant.
No prospect of ever getting a job, not been in school since aged 13.

How financially will she survive?

Lives with mother & mothers partner in rented accommodation. Has no income at all.
Are there even any benefits available to someone so young and totally dependant?

Too anxious to leave the house but able to get knocked up Hmm someone who is unable to go to school or have a job due to mental health issues should not be bringing up a baby and I think social services will see that, very sad situation and I feel for the girl and the family who are going to be dragged into this but that poor baby doesn’t sound like it has a chance

If she is really so young that she has 'no concept of money', I would seriously question whether she was able to consent to the sex and whether in fact she's a victim here.

Regardless, the mother is clearly incapable of safeguarding and should not be looking after the baby. I'd report.

Jan I’ve said camhs were involved and that’s where the second came into place. Not due to autism ex.

Not read the whole thread but I sincerely hope the police are involved. Whoever got this poor young lady pregnant is a predator and a danger to vulnerable people. She should be given some long-acting contraception but not sure how (or if) as (nearly) an adult she can be prevented from having sex at all. (She is in danger of getting STDs as well, obviously). A very sad situation all round.

@KenzoBaby And how do you know he isn't a young man of the same age with some sort of learning disability? In my experience that is very likely.

KenzoBaby · 24/05/2020 19:44

@Apolloanddaphne well if that is the case, then fair enough. But that means there are 2 sets of parents/carers not supervising properly. At the very least they shouldn't be having sex without the issue of protection being resolved.
