Are any public toilets open in the Cotswolds?

We might need to drive and see a family member. We usually stop off in Bourton on the Water or thereabouts as its halfway on the route we know best, and DH needs the toilet very frequently. I'm just wondering if anyone knows?

Not in Bourton, no.

Ones in supermarkets will be open.

Bourton was rammed the other weekend though, I'd go somewhere slightly less obvious.

If you need to see a family member then I'd avoid all the touristy places or the locals might think you're a tourist - not a good thing to be at the moment.

Thank you, that's really helpful to know. We definitely don't want to accidentally end up in crowds.

I agree, don't stop in Bourton you will be hounded out. I say that as a local aswell, nasty stuff going on in town centre.
I think you need to look for supermarkets to be honest. I have a lot of sympathy as my OH needs services a fair bit. Actually staying on motorway as far as possible is probably the best idea. Where are you travelling from OP?

You might be better with something like this.

We would be travelling from Stratford upon Avon to just past Cirencester.

There is the A46/M5 route which we've never done as I'm not too keen on motorways, but I think we'll just have to try it this time if we have to.

Thanks again, I hadn't thought it through at all properly.

I understand your dislike of motorways but i think they are much quieter than usual. DH had to do a 300 mile round trip today to bring our DS back home from Uni. He did the journey in record time, stopped off at the motorway service station for a wee (as he couldn't go in DS's house due to the other 2 occupants) and said there was absolutely no one in the gents toilets. The roads were very quiet despite what we've seen reported in the press about everyone taking to the roads.

Motorways are lovely at the moment. I wouldn't stop in the cotswolds at all. There's no parking, no toilets, and the locals will throw things. GrinWink

The toilets in Bourton are pretty horrible for a tourist attraction anyway.

Purplelion · 24/05/2020 00:13

I don’t think you can rely on supermarket toilets either. Certainly where I live of the 3 local supermarkets none have the toilets open at the moment
