Where is very quiet and scenic between Liverpool and Morecambe?

We haven’t been out apart from supermarket since lockdown.
DD has had exams all week and it’s half term next week so I’d like to take her out for the day at least once.
I want to go somewhere relatively close to home, scenic and coastal and quite quiet. I’d be nervous, for example, of Formby beach because I imagine there could be crowds.
Any ideas? Thanks

Perhaps Rivington Pike www.visitnorthwest.com/walk/rivington-pike/

I've seen in local press that Formby is heaving today so avoiding is a very good call!

CurbsideProphet · 20/05/2020 17:12

Rivington has also been heaving, so I really wouldn't go there.

I'm not sure if any of the coastal towns will really be quiet.

Cleveleys? Coastal but not the most scenic
Pilling is usually quiet but not much there except beach!

Glasson Dock is very quiet and you can walk along the canal towpath there. Knott End is pretty much at the End of anywhere and I doubt it will be too busy.

Thanks for recommendations all. We are very close to Rivington and often go there, so useful to hear how busy it’s been.

@Davespecifico yes I really would avoid Rivington. Apparently it's been busy all the way through lock down. I'm not sure about White Coppice or that area. I know it was quiet in March, but people will likely head there too in the warmer weather.

Southport / Ainsdale / Formby have apparently been packed . I always long for winter when the tourists stay away!
The Leeds Liverpool Canal has also been busy from what I've heard.

LuvMyBoyz · 20/05/2020 22:07

The weekend before lockdown I met up with my sister for a walk around Liverpool castle and Rivington Pike. We absolutely loved it but it was rammed then, too.

Silverdale/ arnside area is nice if you're foing up Morecambe way. Lots of good walks to be had but I don't know how busy it would be. Fleetwood has a good beach and is usually fairly quiet since most people go to Lytham/St Annes/Blackpool/Cleveleys. But theres not much to do in Fleetwood overall.

Carmel maybe ok for a day out.

CoronaIsComing · 20/05/2020 22:20

I’d probably go to Lytham. It’s not too busy in Morecambe if you fancy it though.

Soen · 20/05/2020 22:40

Lytham always gets busy on hot days. Its risky.

Howmanysleepsnow · 20/05/2020 23:29

Has anyone been to Cuerden country park? Or yarrow? Are they busy?

CurbsideProphet · 21/05/2020 10:34

@Howmanysleepsnow I've not been, but someone I know walks their dogs every morning at Yarrow Valley without seeing many other people.

MrsRogerLima · 21/05/2020 11:03

The problem at the minute is that places that are usually very quiet are quiet because people are at work/have better things to do.

Everyone that would normally be somewhere else such as cinema/eating out with friends/in the pub/out shopping/visiting relatives ect ect are descending on the coasts because they can.

I really would stay away until this has all died down and find somewhere very local or stay at home.

MrsRogerLima · 21/05/2020 11:05

And before I am accused, I am no dementor! Just sensible.

It sucks but your DD will survive.
