Would I just be expected to come off this medication

I’m having some problems which could be caused by medication that I’m on for my mental health. If the blood tests show this is the cause will I have to come straight off them? I’m worried about the impact on my mental health if I do have to.

depends but usually MH meds would be cross tapered, so you slowly reduce the dose of the one you're on, while starting another at a low dose and slowly increasing the dose of that one

Thank you. The thing is my gp doesn’t deal with my medication so I’m unsure how it will work.

If your GP doesn't prescribe then is it something like clozapine? You need to talk to your CPN and/or consultant. they should be available online/on the phone.

Well they do prescribe it but they didn’t start me on it if that makes sense? They point blank refuse to up or lower doses of my medication. I have a cpn but don’t know if he can do much as at the moment the results aren’t back.

Which medication is it?

In the experience of a family member, psychiatrists tend to ignore and dismiss the side-effects of the drugs they prescribe.

And what problems? It depends, but if you tell us I can answer.
