Sarah Vine, ghastly woman

Is it just me? Smug, rich, no particular talent, tries to pretend to be ordinary .

Can't stand her, or her husband.

Knackerelli · 20/05/2020 12:10

She has vile opinions but hey, she married Gove so I’m not surprised.

Mixingitall · 20/05/2020 12:17

Sarah Vine does have strong opinions and I read her articles knowing they’re written to be sensational, remember who she writes for. The directive for the writing style comes from the publication and editor, Sarah Vine could be writing for the Economist and the tone of the article would be less emotive and more factual.

Same with Piers Morgan and Katy Hopkins, they make money from having strong opinions, they could be very different in reality.

Life would be boring if we only read articles that follow our our view point. I read Hufffington Post, The Guardian, Daily Mail and Mumsnet to get a rounder view of the news. I used to read The Times, easy it’s subscription!

randomer · 20/05/2020 12:22

I read lots of things. I can't bear the way the woman with zero talent has clawed her way onto our TV screens and into our tabloids.
What is so great about her? There must be literally millions of women who could come up with something interesting to say to other women. I woudl love to hear from them, not her and her faux " we are all in this together "schtick.

I don't know anything about Sarah Vine but I don't like the tone of her articles in the Daily Fail, because I don't like the Daily Fail. As a previous poster said, Vine gets paid handsomely by that publication to wrote articles which epitomise and appeal to that strata of upper middle class English person with an I'm alright Jack/NIMBY world view who can get worked up over inheritance tax (because they stand to inherit plenty) and live in fear of their mobile phone being stolen by a kid on a scooter from one of the "not good enough for my child" schools that they moved catchment area to avoid.

Vine wrote about her alopecia which I felt was both brave and interesting.

Chochito · 20/05/2020 12:34

N.B. I'm sure she or someone who works for her is regularly on Mumsnet. There was a thread on here a few days ago about someone worrying about their adult son's girlfriend being a ladyboy gold digger because she was from Thailand...the Daily Fail has to get its inspiration from somewhere!

GuyFawkesDay · 20/05/2020 12:34

I mean, she married Michael Gove.

Tells you everything you need to know!

I agree - everyone has a good novel struggling to get out if they only had the time. I like her page, I like contentious articles that make you think and give MOH and I something to quietly bicker over. I read the Times for news and the Mail for crosswords, moneymail and femail. I also like their 'causes' - you'd have trouble finding fault with their anti-plastic bag or Mail Force campaigns. Have a pop at the woman by all means (she does does hold some fairly revolting views) but to attack her choice of husband is a bit below the belt - let's leave him for a separate moan - fortunately women are not defined by their partners these days.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 20/05/2020 13:02

Looking forward to the hundreds of #bekind admonishments on this thread.

SunflowerSeedsForever · 20/05/2020 13:19

Sarah Vine took Piers Morgans attacks on Meghan Markle even further. She was totally awful, clearly cant think for herself and allows herself to be dragged down to his depth.

NutellaOnButteryToast · 20/05/2020 13:23

The only thing I know about her is that she wrote an article about Jack Monroe, saying that perhaps she should have decided she was a lesbian before having her children.

That was enough for me.

Pertella · 20/05/2020 13:51

Shes the 1 person that makes me have a smidge of sympathy for Michael Gove Grin

JuneFromBethesda · 20/05/2020 14:21

God no Pertella they're made for each other!

randomer · 20/05/2020 19:21

No , it has nothing to do with " I could do that" . This is the best journalism has to offer? Sarah ( everywoman) Vine. She got a leg up, she has zero talent and zero to contribute.
I could do better with one had tied behind my back and my eyes closed.

Ain't going to happen?

Remember her coming out about anti depressants? Oh so very brave.

I heard from a source of mine who’s a bit in the know about these things that SV and MG are swingers. Imagine getting those car keys.

lljkk · 20/05/2020 21:09

SV has talked compassionately and candidly about some of her own health issues. I don't share her politics but she's not on my horrible list.

candilemon · 20/05/2020 21:11

Yes. AND married to the Govester. How unlucky can one woman be

CayrolBaaaskin · 20/05/2020 21:12

Urgh sorry but I think she’s awful. The worst person in her marriage and she has tough competition

candilemon · 20/05/2020 21:13

She wears a toupee...

donquixotedelamancha · 20/05/2020 21:20

Same with Piers Morgan and Katy Hopkins, they make money from having strong opinions

You would think that but KH is not playing it up. There is a funny secret camera video of her receiving a fake award and having a meal with a fake right wing organisation and her unprompted views when she thinks no-one is watching are much worse than her public ones.

DesdemonaDryEyes · 20/05/2020 21:25

So much hate all round.

randomer · 20/05/2020 21:35

She has not talked candidly, she has used er leg up to reel a load of daft women in with her nonsense about " Boo hoo, I'm addicted to anti depressants"

Of course she isn't.

"She wears a toupee ..."

and?
