What a fixer upper!
I actually find the photos quite sad. It's obviously been used as a squat house for some years. Really hope whoever gets it gets it back to its former glory.

I'll chip in. DS wants one of the big rooms as an indoor skate park, and I'll fill my corner of it with lovely rescue dogs and train them to be therapy dogs who wander the corridors offering cuddles to anyone who needs them.

Heh a group of single friends and I have thrown out ideas about pooling resources at retirement time and buying somewhere big and beautiful with plenty individual space but lots of get-together living space too. I think it's a great idea - I read a story of a bunch of women doing similar in Canada I think it was. They had space for guests and anticipated care needs in later years too.

yes - original parquet flooring. Wouldn't take much to restore that broken piece.

Yes - we have family who live in an old estate with deer farm, organic farming, cottages and a farmhouse and castle. They are all artists and every year a team of 'woofers' or organic farming students come to visit them and work on projects for the summer. They have a beautiful forest and lake and it is very peaceful. They are all retired but still young/ mid 50+ onwards.

I think we should do that and produce our own (tax deductable) wine, soap, jewellery, crafts, object d'art, poetry, to sell on the grounds once a year for funds. We can have a big party and people can sign up to pledges to pay for restoring a part of the house in exchange for a couple of nights b & b (in the 'hotel' wing).
