Soft credit search info, any experts on this?

Had a look at my crrdit report, which shows any hars or soft credit checks carried out on me in the last months.

In the soft searches, it showed the credit report company, which makes sense, but also listed a company that I ordered from online about a month ago. Not sure why this would have activated a credit check, even if it was just a soft one. As far as im aware it was just a normal pay online transaction, no need for them to access this information?

Other online purchases from other online companies have not appeared in this list so not a normal procedure im guessing.

Does anyone know why this company will have carried out a credit search on me, or if they are even allowed to without my knowledge or consent?

Bump?

From what i can see a soft search doesnt show on reports ond doesnt affect rating, but still a bit bothered as to why a company that shouldn't be doing this (if thats the case) are carrying out any sort of credit search on me.

They will have gained your consent within the terms and conditions that you accepted without reading. Not a dig, I never read them either.

Might have been to check ID in case of fraud, or possibly to decide what sort of marketing you might be receptive to. Or is it a company like Next or Very that does credit accounts?

As far as im aware, they dont offer any credit accounts, its just an online shoo where i bought e-liauids from for dp's vape pipe thingy because the shop we use is closed because of lockdown. Was just a normal purchase.

Is it common for companies to do this?

I suppose it might be a way to verify age as its an age restricted product?

I'm guessing the soft search was for age verification
