You need to update your address with DVLA

ThisMustBeMyDream · 19/05/2020 14:23

You can't.
I'm going to be the bearer of bad and utterly ridiculous news.

My DP bought a new car on 16th March. After he paid they told him they didn't have the logbook.

Long story short, you need to fill in a v62 with a £25 postal order or cheque for a new log book and post it to dvla.

They take up to 6 weeks to process.

But thanks to the pandemic, they are only processing keyworkers documents. Which luckily for us, DP is.

Except it has been 9 weeks.

And he still has a car he can not drive because he can not tax it without them issuing the new logbook.

At the point of having to buy another car....

Fucking ridiculous situation. But there you go. No amount of pressure has made a jot of difference. They trot the same line out at every call. They said they are running on 10% of staff.........

So basically, I suggest you go to the old address and ask the residents. Or find that logbook.

if you can't do it online, it won't be happening for ages. They are not responding to calls or twitter.

yes, find the logbook and see if you can get the people at the old address to forward the letter. You can also change the address (why didn't you do this?) as you then may get the last chance letter with the reference you need.

You can also change the address (why didn't you do this?)

Because that's one of those important adult tasks that I never do then always live to regret it
