I'm having my kitchen remodeled. Above the oven hob there is an extractor fan, big ugly square thing looks more like a giant grill. There is a cupboard above it and I assumed inside the cupboard was the silver chimney thing they all seem to connect to. But there isn't one. So I ordered a fancy glass hood today, which is coming.. with a silver chimney. The fitter said he can remove the cupboard, put the chimney thing there and then put a panel over it so it's not visible, the panel will match the cabinets on either side. But there is a wooden beam on the ceiling above, which is staying put... so the chimney won't be able to reach the ceiling as the beam is in the way. So does it just get fixed to the wall?! Sorry I know I must sound very dense!
