Smeg products - worth the price?

Me and DC's use the jug and toaster an awful lot, and while I buy good brands, they always die within about a year. I'm looking replacing my current ones with Smeg products - a lot more expensive but worth it?
Just would like some honest opinions.

We have a smeg kettle. The letters aren't stickers but we have hard water and it looks permanently filthy. I don't think it boils the water any quicker.

A friend had a Smeg fridge and moaned that he couldn’t get parts in August as the factory closed for a months holiday

Well my sister's Smeg fridge is about 15years old and working well. Meanwhile our Liebherr (supposedly amazing) needed £250 of new thermostat after 2 1/2 years, as did my friend's.

Otherwise, I've not heard great things about Smeg. I've got a John Lewis toaster that's about five years old. When that goes I'll get a dualit.

Dualit is the way forward with kettles and toasters. Ours are aging well! Plus if I want to I can order little coloured panels to replace the plain ones - just unscrew them.

Only here to snigger childishly at the word "smeg."

We have just changed our Smeg oven as it stopped working and I had already had an engineer out twice. It was about 9 years old, but to be honest I wouldn't buy one again. I agree with other posters re 'style over substance.'

Thanks everyone! looks like Dualit is the way to go.

DDemelza Grin I never ever laugh at funny names yeah right
