Anyone used child’s savings to buy property?

I’ve seen it a few times where parents have used children’s inheritance or savings to top up what they’ve needed to buy a house

Sometimes paid back sometimes not

Just wondering how widespread this happens to be?

A family member did it recently with £30k of their children’s money

The children are under 6 so have no idea about the money but apparently it will be paid back. Not too sure how or when as the parents don’t earn a huge amount and like to spend

My parents used my inheritance from my gran to pay the mortgage. My dad had a drink problem and we had no money, sometimes no food in the cupboards.

It was paid back with interest years later when I was at uni. My dad said ‘I’ll lend you some money!’ I said ‘what about paying back the money my gran gave me!’and fair enough he paid it all back with extra.
