Can I defrost a small beef joint in the microwave?

Forgot to take it out of the freezer. Do you think it'll be ok to defrost in the microwave? Tia

You can probably do it, but the problem with microwave defrosting is that you sometimes get parts that start to cook while other bits are still frozen.

You can speed up defrosting by soaking the joint in cold water (put it in a plastic bag if it isn't already in one). You might need to change it a couple of times as the meat acts as a big ice cube.

I often defrost packs of chicken breasts or sausages like this in under an hour so I'd guess that a joint will take 2-3 hours at most.

Put it in a bowl of cold water it will defrost by dinner time.
