MamMomMommyMa · 16/05/2020 21:37

Looking for curtains for 3 rooms

Living room
Master bedroom
Sons bedroom

Blackout required

I'd love patterned for the living room, thick, quality, lined

What's your budget?

MamMomMommyMa · 16/05/2020 21:44

Anything up to 200 per pair

That isn't much, have you looked at Dunelm?

What would be a better budget? Yes I've tried Dunelm but didn't like anything

what about made?

MamMomMommyMa · 16/05/2020 21:56

@megrichardson as in get them made up? I was hoping for ready made and be able to order online and get in the next week or two

In the whole of dunelm? Did you go in? What didn't you like about them? Sorry just interested. I start with John Lewis, get the idea I like, then find similar cheaper.

I got some lovely space themed curtains for my son's room from Laura Ashley last year. I think their kids curtains are nice. Depends on the age of your son though of course!

Bluntness100 · 16/05/2020 21:57

Etsy, there are some fabulous folks on there who make curtains, lamp shades, and cushion covers in the fabric of your choice. Usually cheaper than ready made.

I had some cushion covers made up in a gorgeous Sanderson fabric and it was substantially cheaper than buying from the shops. I also had a couple of lamp shades made up in a fabric I loved. Fantastic work. Again cheaper than buying in the shops.

Many of them also will let you say what fabric you wish and they will buy the fabric and make them up for you.

We used brittania rose. Great fabric selection, made to measure, with lots of options for blackout etc. They were over your budget but we have large windows, so might be worth a look.

MadeForThis · 16/05/2020 21:58

I've seen nice ones on the Julian Charles site.

MamMomMommyMa · 16/05/2020 21:58

@OhioOhioOhio I looked online didn't see pattern I liked.

@Emmagen I'll try Laura Ashley online and see thanks

For ready made we used John Lewis and next. John Lewis ones are good, next were ok.

Bluntness100 · 16/05/2020 21:58

And you should get delivery in a couple of weeks also.

I bought five metres of fabric from Sandersons and had a local seamstress make me a pair of lined floor length curtains for my living room. Cost me £600 but I got the material that I wanted and they look gorgeous. If your budget is £200 a pair you’ll probably need ready made. John Lewis and M&S do some nice ones.

Terrys online have a lot of choice.

Also Next?

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 16/05/2020 22:00

Ooh I see someone’s mentioned Dunelm. I’ve never bought from there so I can’t vouch for quality but I’ve had a nosy round and they’ve got some bloody gorgeous fabrics.

megrichardson · 16/05/2020 22:01

Hi OP sorry i meant made.com, thats where i got mine and I thought the quality was v good for the price

Honeywort · 16/05/2020 22:01

If you are looking for budget options, I’d try Ikea, especially if you are prepared to add your own linings.

Sewing linings into curtains is really easy. In fact making curtains is pretty easy, full stop. They are just big rectangles. Again Ikea has cheap fabric as well as ready made curtains, but I’ve also bought lovely fabric from an eBay store, She sell ends of rolls of Sanderson, William Morris and zoffany .

Honeywort · 16/05/2020 22:03

eBay store is called katsfabrics - not sure where that went in last post! No connection to them other than being a happy customer

Neolara · 16/05/2020 22:04

Have a look at Blinds2go.

coronabeer23 · 16/05/2020 22:06

If you’re looking for beautiful curtains you need to get them made, they’re in a different league to anything you buy in the shops

Saz12 · 16/05/2020 22:10

Difficult to get lined curtains made for under £200, though!
I find cost of “good quality” curtains really scary.

Lampan · 16/05/2020 22:14

Choose a fabric you like and look into getting them made, then they will be exactly what you like, and the exact size too. There are often people on Facebook etc who offer curtain making services.

Lampan · 16/05/2020 22:14

I agree £200 per pair might not be enough though...
