Any other mature student procrastinators around?

I can't be the only one surely Grin

Got weeks of work I need to get caught up on, but really struggling to get my head into it.

Ahhh I'm so frustrated with myself! I love the course and promised myself that I'd keep on top of it all, which was fine when I was in college but much harder now I'm doing it at home.

Someone please give me a kick up the bum!

Oh hai! I’ve handed in my assignments and am now facing down my dissertation, which is going to have to change because of COVID restrictions. Am ignoring it and hoping it goes away so I don’t have to think about it. Grin

@Kernowgal so glad I'm not alone! If the fairies come to do your dissertation can you please send them my way after..? Grin

I need a few hours of ZERO distractions - no DC, no phone, no TV, to just crack on. It ain't happening.

Me! I have a whole thing to get through!

Perhaps a bum kicking support thread?

Blueskysunsout · 16/05/2020 23:23

Me too but I’ve been feeling very depressed and can’t concentrate on it and can’t see the point.

Fenlandmountainrescue · 17/05/2020 00:09

I’ve completed my course, but when I was doing my dissertation I got really into building furniture for my daughter’s dolls house.

I did eventually complete the dissertation and passed my degree. It’s doable. Give yourself a pat on the back each time you do a bit more.

Kljnmw3459 · 17/05/2020 00:12

I've recently started a distance learning course, I'm hopelessly behind with all my learning already.

0nwardsAndUpwards · 17/05/2020 08:33

Well it's good to know I'm not alone!

Does anyone have a plan for getting back into it?

My tutor said there's been murmurings of getting back into college, guessing possibly from June 1st. But I'm currently living with my parents who've health conditions so I'm only leaving the house once a week to do all of our shopping - college won't be happening for me yet!

Can you think of anything you can treat yourselves with for doing a bit more? A nice bath, chocolate, a film?

ThisIsMeOrIsIt · 17/05/2020 14:16

I have my final assignment of the year due TOMORROW but have only done 1 table so far. And here I am, on MN, idly flicking through threads. I do wonder why I'm this way; both my parents have lots of drive but I need a really looming deadline to even think about it!

Argh!

RJnomore1 · 17/05/2020 14:18

ME

I had to get an extension because work was madly busy but now I’m procrastinating like a champ.

I’m supervising three other students who se to be doing the same too. I have a big sharp stick for them though. No one is prodding me 🤷🏻‍♀️

DominaShantotto · 17/05/2020 14:22

I'm done with all of mine apart from the exam I deferred to the August period - I got my head down and blasted it all done at the start of the apocalypse.

Good luck though

ClarkGriswoldsChristmastree19 · 17/05/2020 14:24

Me! extended everything, can barely concentrate on reading a magazine never mind studies. Fell like such a failure!

Fenlandmountainrescue · 17/05/2020 14:25

thisis Sorry, but get off MN and start focusing. ‘Tis all the advice I can give.

ClarkGriswoldsChristmastree19 · 17/05/2020 14:25

** should say feel, but actaully fell makes sense too Sad

Soddingsoda · 17/05/2020 14:28

Yep over here.

Got a deadline tomorrow but I’m writing very very slowly!

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 17/05/2020 14:30

Me! I have a good 3 weeks of lectures to catch up on before I can do the coursework that's in place of the exam.
I'm sruggling to motivate myself whilst also motivating ds to do his online schooling!

SallyLovesCheese · 17/05/2020 14:48

Fenlandmountainrescue

I hear ya!

Bloody hells bells there's loads of us Grin

The worst part is that I know how happy I'd feel this evening if I just ploughed through a chunk of it today. My online classes are tomorrow so I NEED to be organised or I'm suddenly just another week behind 🤷‍♀️

I think this morning I'll get DD ready, take her out for a walk to wear her out and leave her with my parents this afternoon for some chilled out screen time (of which she's already had too much of this morning, mother of the year over here 🙋🏼‍♀️).

I've already got a list to get on with it... I JUST NEED TO DO IT!
