Morrisons deliveries/Substituted items

Hi All,
I am very fortunate that I am able to get Morrisons deliveries at the moment due to being medically vulnerable.

I've been getting Iceland deliveries up to now so this is my first delivery with morrisons.

I've had an email to say the items i wanted weren't available so they've been substituted with other items - much more expensive items and also items that I can't even eat.

Their online help just says that they cannot accept any refusals of substituted items on the doorstep so I'm concerned as the items are over £20 combined and we are on a limited budget right now.

It hasn't been delivered yet, due today and obviously too late for me to change anything - their phone lines are not working at the moment and they said they aren't answering emails so I don't really know what to do now

Anyone know what happens at the moment if you aren't happy with the substituted items?

As long as the items haven’t been over your doorstep you can refuse them and they should give you a refund. We’ve only not been able to return them if they’ve actually been in our house so just make sure you tell the driver you don’t want them as soon as you open the door.

Sainsbury’s also charge the price of the item but then give you a voucher for the difference off your next shop

I’ve never had subs with Morrisons as their availability is excellent as it comes from a warehouse but maybe they’ve made changes since the virus

Asda are the best with subs and any refund requests. Refund within 24 hours

I’ve had a delivery pass for quite a while with Morrison’s, I’ve used it 3 times since lockdown as I can never get a slot. I’ve also been stuck with expensive subs and often a lot of my order missing- usually my vegetarian stuff.
I’m finding Iceland better- not as many options, but at least I get what I ordered.
I’m actually finding that the market traders who do deliveries are the best bet. Our local fruit and veg trader now delivers 6 days a week and has taken on 3 new staff to get through the order list!

Yes, if you tell them before you touch anything they’ll take it back. They tried to deliver me 8 litres of iron bru last week! They took that back, no way was I paying for that.

@justbloodystayhomeplease how did you get on with your delivery? I hope it was ok

Asda is good op. I've had a fair few subs on my weekly orders and if they're not suitable they refund you. Don't charge extra if the subs are more expensive eg I ordered a 12 pack of lager for DH and they subbed it for the 18 pack for the same price. DH was delighted 😂
