Indian snack food - online suppliers anyone?

DP and I usually shop together - in these times of one person per shop or whatever restrictions, we go to different shops and meet back at car. Shopping unloaded at home "together". It's DPs birthday soon and as a little treat, I'd like to get a load of Indian snacks (Bombay mix, spicy lentils etc) but can't do this as a surprise if we are together all the time! Can anybody recommend an online supplier where I can order a few things - not cash & carry amounts!

Thank you Sleepy - I'm looking at a bewildering array of goodies - never realised there was so much to choose from!

Any other suggestions from MNs? Maybe smaller retail outlets? If not, I will wade through the Desicart website :-)

If you like sweet desserts, I recommend Gulab Jamun with some ice cream x

SWnewstart · 14/05/2020 20:24

I will try that dessert with pleasure! More lockdown weight gain maybe ...

Where are you based - Do you have an Asian grocery shop local to you? They may be able to deliver locally. I love Co-Fresh snacks (they sell them in the supermarket also). Their Chilli and Lemon grills are soo good, but our favourite are the Chakri. I’m Indian and always buy them (when I can’t get to an Indian shop www.cofresh.co.uk/products/

Rural Somerset MooMinCow, no Aladdin's cave Asian grocery shops for miles and anyway DP wouldn't miss an opportunity to come with me to explore and find other delights! I will however check the Co-Fresh website, thank you very much.

We are quite blessed with Asian grocers not far from where we are. Unfortunately, we are not so blessed with parking so I went online and found quite a few delicious little things from these sites for DP for Christmas.

Thank you TheNesttedlf - I'm off to explore those links online. Think we may both be gaining even more lockdown pounds at this rate!

Try;:

Direct from supplier

sashh · 15/05/2020 04:33

As well as gulab jamun try kulfi - you won't get that delivered. And I love Jelabis.

Sorry I was going to say contact a local one but I see you are not anywhere near one.

If, after lockdown, you are anywhere nera Wolverhampton I will hapilly show you to Asian supermarkets, and then the sweet centres.

MooMinCow · 15/05/2020 07:37

If he has a sweet tooth you can order a box from barfia.com/order-online/

Barfi are very sweet indian fudge - can be an acquired taste, but very more-ish!

Thanks again everyone - brilliant suggestions enabling me to sort the little treats surprise.

Sashh - lived near and worked in Wolverhampton many years ago, which is how we discovered delicious Asian snacks! Used to be good places along the Dudley Road.

When you say the Dudley Rd do you mean Blakenhall? They roipped downa few buildings and built new ones, and a huge car park.

My brother is in Cornwall, I have to send food parcels of samosas with my dad when he visits him.

This is Uppals now

SWnewstart · 15/05/2020 22:32

Yes Sashh, that's what I meant. I bet the samosas taste good - fancy dropping some off in Somerset on dad's way through to Cornwall?
