The egg chair is nice but I think once sat in, it would be a different experience. With the spring hooks, you'd likely have to sit in the middle if you were on your own, rather than get to curl up in the corner, and if it were 2 people of different weights it might end up a bit lopsided.
The more solid hanging set upon the chair would make it more useable , and it does look nice.

I find swinging chairs make me really queasy, even without a drink!
Hammocks etc are fine (for me!) and even dd’s swing is fine. But not a swinging chair...
I’d really recommend trying one out first, if you can.

I have had both - the wooden swing bench was a pain was it had to be stained each year and covered up during the winter. It always felt a bit uncomfortable and you couldn't really lay down on it.

The egg swing we have is plastic rattan so doesn't require staining and can be left out. It's more comfortable but you cannot sit up straight in it due to the shape unless you perch on the front. You can swing in different directions, rather than just the forward back with the swing bench.

The wooden swing bench seems more of a "garden " thing to me.

Personally, I prefer the traditional wooden swing seat. I can imagine sitting with a cup of tea on that, whereas the egg chair looks sort of too wobbly.
